What You’ll Find Here
My Photos
Transport yourself to other worlds through my collection of astrophotography. I specialize in photographing places outside of our solar system (known as deep sky objects, or “DSOs”), revealing the hidden beauty of celestial phenomena that lie far beyond the reach of the naked eye. You’ll witness a variety of exciting astronomical subjects in my portfolio:
Galaxies and galaxy clusters
Nebulae (supernova remnants, reflection, emission, dark, and planetary nebulae)
Open and globular star clusters
Product Reviews
For those seeking to embark on their own astrophotography journey, I offer honest and comprehensive equipment reviews. From telescopes to cameras and accessories, my aim is to assist fellow enthusiasts to make informed decisions prior to purchasing equipment with their hard-earned money.
Processing Techniques
Discover the hidden details lurking in your images with my image processing tutorials. I am constantly searching for new processing approaches to take my data to the next level and am excited to share them here. My software of choice for astrophotography is PixInsight.
My Astrophotography Journey
For most of my life, the night sky seemed like an intangible abstraction - something that scientists spoke about but that had no meaning here on planet Earth. I knew that objects outside of our solar system were immensely far away and was under the (false) pretense that they were only accessible by expensive, research-grade equipment in the most remote dark skies on Earth or from telescopes in space. I was not interested in astronomy and stayed ignorant of the many worlds that swept the sky above me and was within reach each night.
In 2022, when the first James Webb Space Telescope images began appearing online, I watched a PBS documentary on the engineering, mission, and images. I was amazed. Immediately after the movie ended, I watched another on the Hubble Space Telescope… it was at that moment I had begun falling down the rabbit hole. I stumbled upon amateur astrophotographers on YouTube and realized that I could capture pictures of worlds unimaginably far away.
After spending countless hours researching and learning, I dove head-first into the hobby by acquiring an 8” Newtonian astrograph, EQ mount, cooled astro camera, off axis guider, guide camera, and a license of PixInsight. When the first clear night eventually arrived, I carefully set up my equipment and captured images of deep space.
Since those first images, I have learned a lot about the art and science behind astrophotography and image processing. I hope to share what I have learned here on this website. Whether you're a seasoned astronomer or an aspiring stargazer, Many Worlds Astro offers a place for those who seek to understand and appreciate the beauty of the universe we all find ourselves in. Thank you for embarking on this journey with me.
Clear skies!
